Santoker Cube 10, also referred to as C10, is a compact entry level coffee roaster that uses pure convection heating. Its name comes from its straight-line angular design.

As a fluid bed roaster or air roaster, beans are suspended in circulating hot air during roasting. This approach ensures precise control over both temperature and airflow, resulting in consistent and quick roasts. It's particularly well-suited for light roast profiles and sample roasting, delivering a clean finish.

Roasting is managed via the Santoker roasting app, compatible with iOS, Android and Harmony devices. The app utilizes PID control to allow accurate profile tracking, effectively addressing the common issue of roast repeatability. It also offers access to a global library of roast profiles contributed by users worldwide, which can be selected for automated profile tracing.

Santoker machines employ brushless motor, generating strong airflow for efficient hot air roasting. Adding to this, the C10 has a large roasting chamber. Parchmen & Co has roasted 150g in it with no problems on the cupping table. Typical roast time is 6-8 min. The powerful fan also brings the benefit of rapid cooling in 1 min.

A standout feature of the C10 is that it does not require pre-heating. This is owing to the fact that an air roaster primarily relies on hot air convection to function. Furthermore, it has a powerful heating capacity but a lightweight roasting chamber, allowing instant heating without energy loss. As such, the roast curve on the C10 reflects the coffee’s true roast development - starting from room temperature with a steep Rate of Rise (ROR), forming an ‘skewed S’ curve, in contrast to the typical ‘√’ ladle curve seen in drum roasters. More importantly, it offers greater energy efficiency and improved sustainability.

Green coffee is loaded into the chamber by removing the round cup on top of it. When the roast is finished, roasted coffee is retrieved via grabbing the handle of the C10 just like you would for a coffee mug, and pouring out the coffee from the top. This is relatively easy given that the machine is light at 3.65 kg. The round cup functions as the chaff collector - the chaff can be easily poured out and the grills can be easily cleaned with a paint brush. The round cup has a glass centre that allows observation of the roast as it proceeds.

The exhaust is at the back of the machine, above the switch and power connection. When roasting, there is no visible smoke, aside from the smell of roasted coffee.
