Clouds and Mist - Ha Giang First Flush 2020
On the high peaks of the Ha Giàng mountain range, north of Vietnam are wild tea trees (Assamica) that have been growing for hundreds of years.
Constantly covered by clouds and mists due to the high altitude this cover provides a shade for the tea trees growing forcing it to produce more chlorophyll in order to make more food from the limited direct sunlight. The picking is of only one bud one leaves, to retain the essence of the spring harvest. The result is a floral umami fluffy sweet tea.
Although it may not display clear distinct taste notes as of particular farmed sinesis cultivars, it displays a wild complex flavour notes that we find distinct from the Ha Giàng wild trees.
Aromas of mountain flowers and thick mouthfeel makes this tea a perfect start to a rainy morning.
