First flush Darjeeling tea before and after steeping The first pluckings in Spring, generally March into May, are referred to as the first flush. These first leaves following the winter dormancy are the most tender leaves the plant will produce and result in a tea that has a gentle, very light colour and aroma, and a mild astringency (or briskness).
Local adaption and Indian Tea plantations created new varietals like the AV2 (from Ambari Vegetative) have since been developed to create better yields and increase the flavour profiles of the tea.
Terms like Exclusive refers to the current day's harvest are exclusively being sold as a whole batch.

Arya Ruby (Exclusive)
The Arya Tea Estate was established in 1885 and was originally known as ‘Sidrabong’. Legend tells that the garden was founded by Buddhist monks who developed and cultivated different varieties of Chinese seed. The house inhabited by the monks in the 19th century can still be found on the estate. The plantation starts at an altitude of 1820 meters and spreads down to 900 meters, with an average elevation of about 1500 metres. It produces around 70 tons of tea annually, 30 tons less than before the estate became organic. Some of its most famous teas are its ‘Jewel’ range, including Ruby (Black Tea), Emerald (Green Tea), Pearl (White Tea), Diamond (Chunky Tips) and Topaz (Oolong). All of their Jewel range teas are produced from special clonal tea bushes mainly from AV2 varietal planted on the highest point of the tea garden area.
Upper Namring Clonal First Flush
Upper Namring Tea Estate is one of the oldest (100+ years) tea gardens in Darjeeling. Located in the eastern section of Darjeeling, it is about 1000 acres (about the average tea estate size in Darjeeling) and ranges from 3000 to 5500ft in elevation.
Bright and syrupy with a hint of muscatel note.

Badamtam First Flush Flowery Clonal
Badamtam’s exotic spring white tea is one of the most coveted and demands a high price tag with its exquisite delicate floral and smooth profile. It also produces exceptional clonal flowery moonlights.
One of the foremost estates with respect to its welfare standards, all its tea is organically cultivated. Its elevation adds to its flavor leading it to produce its first flush comparatively earlier than the rest of the Darjeeling estates. One of the most delicate flavors are grown here making them quite a range of highly priced teas.
Bright and syrupy with a lingering note of ripe mangoes and a hint of muscatel note.
