2002 June Tea Box - More Green Teas

We continue our love for the very delicious but difficult green tea in June.

The season for super delicious first flush green teas is over, and the sun shines bright to quicken the pace of growth for the subsequent harvests. This tea box features such green teas, which are what are normally available in the market. Despite this, we have curated a fine selection of high mountain historical teas - four from China and one from Vietnam. 

We hope to share our love of green teas with you. 

2022 Mengding Ambrosia 蒙顶甘露

Known to be the oldest known tea in China, it originates from and is named after the Han dynasty (around BCE 200) grandmaster of tea Wu Li Zhen (吴理真), otherwise known as Ambrosia Patriarch (甘露祖师), he being the oldest known person in history who engaged in tea cultivation.

2022 Emei Snow Buds 峨眉雪芽

This is a historical green tea that was famous since the Tang dynasty, It grows around 800 to 1000 m in the Buddhist mountain of Emei amongst mist and fog, slowly growing and developing high level of umami.

2022 Putuo Buddha Tea 普陀佛茶

Putuo tea is known also known as tea in the clouds (普陀山云雾茶) to reflect its misty growing environment, Each leave is tiny and lightly curved, looking like small hooks or hairy snails, earning it another name of Phoenix's Tail (凤尾茶).

2022 Jiuhua Buddha Tea 九华佛茶 (口粮茶)

This tea is grown in the famous Buddhist mountain of Jiuhua, at an area called Jiu Zi Yan (九子岩）which is the source of Jiujua mountain culture and heritage. Specifically, it is grown in the misty environment of Yellow Rock Brooke (黄石溪), and this tea was a royal tribute tea during the Song dynasty about 1000 years ago.

Vietnam Lotus Green Tea

This tea is one of the Vietnam's signature tea and is used for all important event. Shan Tuyet tea buds (about 10g) from Hà Giang mountain are wrapped inside 100-petal lotuses from an organic pond in Phú Xuyên, Ha Noi to create this very special tea. The tea gives a lovely aroma of sweet lotus with some notes of cardamom and ginger flower.
