Authentic Zisha Tea Pot "Compass" (Zhuo Pan Hu) 周盘壶

Clay: Purple Clay (紫泥), from Yellow Dragon Mountain (黄龙山)

This style of this tea pot originates from one of 18 tea pot (曼生十八式) designed by famous calligraphy and artist Chen Hong Shou (陈鸿寿) alias Man Sheng (曼生) who lived during the Qing dynasty.

Man Sheng was toying with a geomantic compass (罗盘, "lou pan") when he noted that the compass looks round and all encompassing on the outlook but always pointed south when it stops spinning. He reflected on the life philosophy of being flexible and non-aggressive in dealing with people while remaining steadfast on one's morality. He designed a tea pot in this style and thus named it "Zhuo Pan" (周盘, "compass which originated from the Zhuo Dynasty more than 2,200 years ago).

Made using authentic clay from Yellow Dragon Mountain in Yixing, Jiangsu province of China, each tea pot is as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing, and comes with a certificate stamped by the potter.

Enjoy the history, heritage and tradition when you sip tea from it.
