HISTORY

 

Long Jing is constantly one of the top ten famous teas produced in China. Historically it has always been Qian Long emperor favourite tea. For the few times he has travelled south, he has made a few trips to Xihu, Hangzhou and tour the tea production.

Wen Jia Shan village is one of the biggest producer of Long Jing from the Lion's Peak. 

The five famous areas for producing Long Jing in Xihu, Hangzhou are Lion, Dragon, Cloud, Tiger and Plum. 狮、龙、云、虎、梅.

Lion refers to Lion's Peak which is the famous region of producing high quality Long Jing.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

This tea is famous for its first harvest with the Pre Qingming teas most valued. As soon as winter ends, farmers will be waiting patiently for the tea trees to wake up from their slumber and start growing new buds.

PROCESS

Long Jing harvests starts from late March which we refer to as till late April. With the earlier harvest being more valued. 

The most interesting process about Long Jing is the pan frying of the tea, which includes up to ten different techniques to kill green and shape the tea leaves into its signature shape. 

Taste Notes

Naturally sweet with aroma of chicken soup, fresh green and smooth light body.
