HISTORY

In 1875 a tea merchant, Xie Zheng An, set up a tea company near Huangshan to meet the increasing demand for Chinese tea.

He led his team of pickers into Huangshan and chose the freshest, fattest tea buds to make tea. The resulting product was a tea with its hair ('mao') still obvious and yet shaped like a mountain ('feng') hence that's how it got its name.

This tea is one of China's top ten teas due to its freshness and floral aromas. It doesn't become astringent even brewing with high-temperature water.

PROCESS

Picking, the tea is picked early in the mornings when there's no rain.

The tea is then laid flat to allow withering to reduce the moisture level of the tea.

Subsequently, charcoal roasting is used to kill green and dry the tea.

Taste Notes

Fresh green with notes of orchid aromas.
