In 1972, Mr. Gustavo Leyva achieved his lifelong dream and bought Buenavista's Alsacia farm. However, his joy was mixed with sorrow; in that same year, his youngest son San Alberto tragically passed away in a plane accident.
Haicenda San Alberto was thus named to honor his son and it has since become one of Colombia's most celebrated coffee estates. The farm is located in the smallest town in Colombia's smallest township, but it has a unique microclimate. The extreme fluctuations of temperature (12-30°C) and its volcanic terroir produces a very special coffee and a highly characteristic aroma.
The estate is also one of the most beautiful in all of Colombia. The terrace at Hacienda San Alberto is famous for its panoramic views of the surrounding green hills!
